Amelie is not easy

People everywhere keep saying "I'm new to piano. I just learnt Amelie Comptine d'un autre."

What are these people talking about? How is that possible? It seems like a moderate piece to me and not easy.

It is possible they are playing the "simplified" version.  When I look it up on Musescore, there are about a dozen scores for piano with varying degrees of difficulty.  I am attaching screen shots of a beginner level one vs a more advanced one.
