Great video! His description and discussion of Murray Perahia's technique is spot on.  Perahia remains vastly underrated amongst the great 20th century pianists.  He has the gift of making everything he plays sound natural and beautiful.  Although nearly every great pianist has recorded Schumann's Fantasie in C, Op. 17,  Perahia's recording remains my favorite.   For me, no one has ever made this wondrous piece sound as beautiful.

I must have missed this when it was first posted, because otherwise I would've commented "why is Cziffra not on the list?"

Tonebase does weird stuff sometimes. There are lots of amazing pianists but Cziffra easily beats Zimerman, not contest. Hey, Schnabel's not there either. I'm still glad that there was some variety - I was expecting all modern pianists, but Hofmann's on there (a really great choice!)
last 3 schubert sonatas and piano trios are something else

I think it's helpful to listen to (and watch!)  great pianists, I'm in favor of videos like this.  A serious piano student needs an "ideal sound" in mind when practicing ... it's helpful to craft this ideal with some thought, some research ...  I think it's valuable to research pianists with a physical apparatus (hands/fingers) similar to my own, they are likely to be a truer alignment for my own physical problems and solutions for executing sound.

Here's a list of the pianists mentioned in the video.  The pianists I follow and emulate are not on here.

Arthur Rubinstein
Claudio Arrau
Vladimir Horowitz
Josef Hofmann
Murray Perahia
Emil Gilels
Alicia de Larrocha
Arcadi Volodos
Art Tatum
Martha Argerich
Van Cliburn
Sviatoslav Richter
Yuja Wang
Mikhail Pletnev
Krystian Zimerman
András Schiff
BONUS PIANIST

I'd say the creator of this video had in mind pianists who were famous (talked about) in the 1970's to 1990's, with the exception of Yuja Wang, the youngest of the set.

Many missing. To be honest, I never liked Argerich.

Solomon? I think his Hammerklavier slow movement is my favourite.
