Ballade 4, Measure 58 (Feedback Tips)
on: July 03, 2025, 11:08:00 AM
Hi All,
I learnt this passage a few weeks ago and would appreciate some constructive feedback on it (I realise it's not 100% fluid yet) :)

Thanks a lot!

Same thing on my end. :(

The only Chopin B4 video I found on your YT channel is this one from about a month ago:

(not sure if the YouTube video function works on "shorts...")
(Edit: apparently it does!)
Which definitely doesn't stops midway through measure 8.
Is it possible you set the video to "private?"

Wrong note/misread towards the end.

Have you studied carefully the dynamic markings of this opening?

Avoid any pauses. Make it flow. Make the top note sing.

For repeated notes, keep the fingers close to the key.

To be honest, this opening is one of the most difficult in any Chopin work.

I also found this on your channel https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Uz8jTbRC0y4
from further inside the piece.
I agree with the other commenters regarding excessive rhythmical deviations, pauses etc. Your technique is also highly unusual, as you seem almost afraid to touch the keys, hovering over them from a great height and pressing them only with the weight of your fingertips. This can't be good for achieving a proper dynamic range. The result sounds like lounge playing: excessive pauses, rhythmic deviations and loud portions in the non-melodic parts.
