I’m gasplamey, and welcome to the first-ever Musical Madness tournament where the better pieces win!
If you’re familiar with liszt-and-the-galops’ tournament, then this works similarly: forum users, lurkers, etc., vote in each matchup for the piece that they feel is best, or is their favorite. The pieces with the most votes move on to the next round.
Before the tournament begins, I’m holding a nomination round where anyone – including people who don’t have accounts on piano street – can submit their own favorite pieces to join the tournament. There are only a few restrictions on what pieces can be submitted, which are outlined below.
1. For those with an account on piano street: comment your recommendation in this thread. For those without an account: submit your recommendation in the google form linked here: https://forms.gle/kMjMznkYnBwaZ7DM9
2. You must include a piece from the “CAN be replaced” list that will be removed to make room for your submission.
3. You may submit as many pieces as you wish, as long as all of your submissions have a unique piece that will also be substituted.
4. The piece you want to remove cannot come from the “CANNOT be replaced” list; these are my personal favorite pieces and I need to have them in the tournament.
5. Your submission must be part of either the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Impressionist eras of piano music, or something in between.
6. Orchestral pieces are allowed, as long as there is a significant focus on the piano.
7. Some suggestions will be rejected if they're pieces I absolutely despise (f*ck Liszt - Feux Follets, for instance).
8. Make sure your nomination is submitted by Saturday, July 12th!

Below are the two lists of pieces.

P.S.
The Courier New font is used to convey a sense of moderate unseriousness
This competition is very serious, therefore I will not be using Courier for announcements regarding this tournament (like this post).

I have copied Siberian Husky's "Bunny" into my signature to aid his quest for world domination. Now you must do the same.
Now why can't I make this Courier New font...

That's... a LOT of Chopin and Rachmaninoff. And some very interesting choices for Liszt.
Going to go ahead and submit a few of my recommended substitutions.
Wanderer-Fantasy --> Beethoven/Liszt - S. 464 no. 9 Transcription of Beethoven's 9th Symphony
Poissons d'Or --> Debussy - Jardins sous la Pluie
HR 1 --> Liszt - S. 219 Grand Galop Chromatique
Scriabin - Sonata-Fantaisie --> Liszt - La Clochette
Scriabin 2/1 --> Alkan - Op. 39 no. 2 En Rythme Molossique or Alkan - Op. 35 no. 5 Allegro Barbaro
Chopin 25/7 --> Mendelssohn - Etude Op. 104b no. 1
Rachmaninoff 39/7 --> Liszt - S. 141 no. 5 La Chasse or Liszt - S. 139 no. 12 Chasse-Neige
Rachmaninoff Sonata no. 1 --> Chaminade - Op. 21 Piano Sonata in C Minor or Medtner - Op. 25 no. 2 Night Wind Sonata
S. 139 Mazeppa --> Fauré - Ballade Op. 19 (solo piano version) (I know transitional is going to recommend this piece anyway lol)
Rachmaninoff Concerto no. 1 --> C. Schumann - Piano Sonata in G Minor or Alkan - Le Quatre Âges Sonata
Chopin - Concerto no. 2 --> Brahms - Concerto no. 2 or Scriabin - Sonata no. 8
Rachmaninoff MM no. 4 --> Saint-Saens - Op. 111 no. 6 "Toccata d'Aprés le Cinquième Concerto"
Chopin Polonaise-Fantasy --> Alkan - Le Festin d'Ésope
Chopin 25/12 --> Liszt - S. 140 no. 3 La Campanella

A few other things:
I know you put Liebestraum no. 3 in the "don't replace this" section, but can you please substitute it for a less-overplayed Liszt piece?

Obviously it's not contained within any of the four time periods you limited substitutions to, but can I submit
Chopin Concerto no. 1 --> Jack Gibbons - Op. 116 Fantaisie?
I'm sure that there's also some people on here who would want to submit later Prokofiev pieces as well.

When on July 12th is the cutoff date?

Will there be a bracket contest?
