DPH PE-2 Pedal Extender
on: August 14, 2025, 04:11:00 PM
Hello teachers,

I am wondering if any of you have the DPH PE-2 Pedal Extender (https://dphmusicarts.square.site/product/dph-world-s-1-piano-pedal-extender-pe-2/1?cs=true&cst=custom) and whether you'd recommend it for teaching children? It claims to be the #1 pedal extender recommended by teachers around the world, but I can't find much info about the company or many reviews online. It does seem to have a simpler design than a lot of other pedal extenders, but I just want to make sure it's legitimate before investing. Thanks!

That's expensive! I have no idea if it works well or not, but surely millions of children have managed without it?

I would almost say it is best for beginners to avoid the pedal entirely?

Yeah, I'm not quite decided on the usefulness of having a pedal option for young children, since the music they play doesn't demand it. The most important thing for me is just making sure they have their feet planted firmly on a flat surface, but that could also be done by stacking foam pads. Making sure they actually *keep* their feet there, instead of tucking them under the bench, is an endless struggle with little children, haha.

Pedal extender are pretty pricey... anywhere from $60 to $300, although I've seen one pedal extender designed by a well-known teacher that was priced at nearly $600, which I think is outrageous.
