ROSLAVETS: piano trio no 3 - sublime beauty
on: August 25, 2025, 10:55:31 PM
After hearing this I have to share.  Such a beautiful piece.  And so original.
It reminded me of early Schoenberg.  After reading the description on YT I see others have made that connection, but of course there was no influence - - Roslavets was unknown outside of Russia and suppressed there.  I think Schoenberg would have been very interested and impressed in this highly chromatic, almost atonal, music.
Maybe it is atonal?

Beautiful!  Reading about him in wikipedia - Born ~1880 died 1944. From Russian empire. His music was officially suppressed from 1930 onwards.  Looks like this is the only trio of the 5 he wrote that was published in his lifetime.  Written 1921 and published 1925. Two of the trios were lost.
