Earth Updates
on: August 30, 2025, 03:47:54 PM
Just a thread where you can post Earth's shortcomings

Nerf the sun. This isn't really about the Earth, but it should still be on this thread.

Rules:
1. No talking about political stuff(this one is self-explanatory)
2. No saying obvious stuff(like stop climate change; instead say something like, "nerf effectiveness of coal by 75%)
3. Try making posts with sort of a video game changelog format.

Unfortunately most of this stuff has been made political by various groups in certain countries (the current ruling party in the United States, for example).

On the topic of the thread though, here's the link to the official countdown until we cross the point of no return:

This is actually sad though. We know everything we need to do, we just aren't doing it.

Trees should get an update, make them thicker, taller, and lusher, kinda like the trees from Avatar: The Way of Water. They would be able to absorb more carbon dioxide, but there might have to be more sunlight to compensate for their size.

Humans are the worst part of the earth. Like harmful bacteria, like a virus. Yes we can do good, but we are the single most destructive force on earth. We are the caretakers and aggressors of this planet and that makes us monsters.

We humans are the worst shortcoming of Earth, I mean we might simply replace ourselves with death soon enough with nuclear war or something. If people live at high consumption Western levels (lots of meat, high energy use, wasteful resource use) a sustainable number is likely ≈1–2 billion.

100%. And we're experts at masking the damage we cause- not just to the planet but to each other. In premodern times we did this through religion (God's will, samsara etc) and these days it's "best not talk about 'politics'".

Yes we have a way of taking something good and using it for bad while still holding up the banner for good! That just turns up everywhere you look we even do it ourselves within a much smaller microcosm. I take many airline flights every year, so I can't really say much. lol

What does "nerf" mean exactly?

Not everyone grew up playing video games, not everyone would know what a "changelog format is"

I mean you can easy look it up these days. Nerf means to make something weaker. It comes from the toy brand Nerf (soft foam weapons). Generally "nerfing" the sun or changing how it interacts with the earth tends to freeze oceans and put us into ice ages, probably not something very desirable.

lostinidlewonder is right about the first one.

Do you play any video games? If you have, then have you seen the changelog or patch notes for any updates to the video game?

If you answered no to both questions, then just write your posts on this thread in like a really simplistic format, and use quantitative data

An example of this would be "reduced number of llamas from [number] to [number]"

Here's a needlessly chaotic one that very well could happen (by that I mean it has like a 0.000001% chance of happening in the next four years but that's still more than it ever was in the past by a lot).
>dissolved "United States"

>created "Socialist Republic of New England" (socialist democracy containing US states of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine)

>created "Jesusland" (fascist state containing US states of Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana)

>created "Republic of Texas" (technically a republic but realistically a one-party state consisting of the US state of Texas)

>created "Florida" (same as RoT but Florida)

>created "American Georgia" (similar to the previous two but not a one-party state and containing the US state of Georgia)

>created "Republic of Two Carolinas" (similar to the previous three but US states of N. and S. Carolina)

>created "United States" (containing US states of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and the non-US state of Washington D.C.)

>created "Deseret" (Mormon state in the area of the US state of Utah)

>created "*not sure what to call this*" (state encompassing the US states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado)

>created "East Cascadia" (fascist state containing US states of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming)

>created "West Cascadia" (republic containing US states of Oregon and Washington)

>created "Republic of California" (republic consisting of the US states of California and Nevada)

>"Socialist Republic of New England" annexed into "Canada" as two additional provinces ("New York," consisting of US states of New York and New Jersey, and "New England," consisting of the other US states in "Socialist Republic of New England")

>created "Tibet"

>created "Chechnya"

>created "Karelia"

>created "St. Petersburg"

>removed "Hungary" from the European Union

>created "Scotland"

>incorporated "Northern Ireland" into "Republic of Ireland"

>created "Wales"

>created "Siberia"

>IDK probably a few other things to Balkanize the three main "world powers" as "balancing mechanics" (read: punishment for all the stupid sh_t their fascist parties are doing).

I spent way too much time doing this lol, and I'm totally going to make a map of this or something just because I can lmao.

Edit: should probably of done this with ISO codes but whatever.

TBH, I did look it up, but didn't really understand the definition.  You've made it much clearer.

Well, I just finished making a (very hasty) map of this, so I figured I may as well post it here. Also added a few other things to it. Also no idea if this will even work, I've never tried image hosting before.

Too lazy to add subdivisions for countries that I added/updated the borders of; might do that at some point in the future.

Base map that I modified to make this: https://www.deviantart.com/jungsukoh/art/2022-World-Map-with-All-National-Subdivisions-934968010

Dividing territory on religious grounds is never a good idea, look at the Middle East- the crusades never really ended, their sponsors changed and the discovery of oil added both literal and figurative fuel to the flames.

The "jesusland" thing is a reference to this meme from 2004:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesusland_map
It's not really a religious divide.

As for Deseret, fair.

Red. Blue is United States of Canada. The map is from the 2004 US presidential election.
