Feedback for original solo piano pieces
on: September 01, 2025, 09:52:04 AM
Hello everyone,
I am a new forum member.
I recently finished recording a 4-piece piano cycle (1 Nocturne, 2 Preludes, 1 Intermezzo). I put great care into each composition, interpretation, and recording process, and now that it's complete, I’m sharing it for those who might be interested in hearing new solo piano.
I wanted to preserve the live aspect of the music, thus nothing was removed or added, just the intention and skill of the time of each performance (slight imperfections will be present but the quality is great).
You can find the full cycle as a playlist here:
I am a self-taught pianist and have many other pieces I am currently working on, including the never ending marathon to improve my technique.
Those who genuinely enjoy discovering original piano music, please feel free to share your thoughts if you’re inclined. I will be glad to reflect on them as I keep refining the pieces, but listening attentively is more than enough!

I'm listening to these as I type. These are enjoyable to me. The recording quality, acoustics and tuning of the piano sound great to my ear. Was this done all electronically? Can you let us know what instrument, recording device and location you used for these recordings?
Also, I'm a little confused. 4-piece piano cycle? They are labeled as op 13 no 1, op 14 no 1, op 17 no 1, op 9 no 1? Are these published? Why 4 different op numbers if they are form a cycle? Are there other pieces in each of the op numbers? I assume yes since you label as no. 1 => I assume there is at least a no 2 in each opus.

Hi there,
Thank you for the feedback, really appreciated. Yes, indeed. This is a Digital piano as I cannot afford to upgrade to an accoustic one anytime soon. "Can you let us know what instrument, recording device and location you used for these recordings?"
Sure! The piano is Yamaha CLP-735 (hardware). I was saving for ages to get it and I am glad I did, since the piano has awesome, very heavy keys and the hardware quality is very respectable. I use "Garritan CFX Concert Grand plugin" for the end piano sound. The DAW is Reaper, interface is Volt 276. Location is simply my room (all is digital), plus I use very modest layer of a plug-in convolution reverb (free version of ConvoXT).
I have listened to dozens of classical piano recordings for myriads of labels, so before even starting out I always had the "image" of the sound I wanted to achieve.
As per the cycle. Indeed, very good point. " I assume there is at least a no 2 in each opus." Yes: Op. 9 has 3 Nocturnes (the other 2 are underway but are extremely hard -for me- and I need more practice). Op. 14 has 3 more works (similarly as the sweet Db prelude, they have brevity, eventfulnessa and a fleeting feeling and almost no pedal use). I choose Op. numbers completely deliberately, but yes, all of them have more pieces under them.
So, in a sense, "cycle" stands for "the pieces I managed to record at this time and decided to upload" amidst the chaos of my adult life.
I am glad you gave them a chance. It means the world to me!
