acoustic pianos hard to find a piano without problems
on: September 01, 2025, 08:59:12 PM
i actually really like the sound of the piano ive got , but it does have a problem with f 2 and f 2 black key ,
it sounds like the string tension is not high enough you can hear the hammer hitting the string as well as the tone it produces , so after replacing all the hammers for abel and replacing the last six tricord strings for a slightly larger wire diameter which did help slightly , i also fitted slightly larger pins x6 in the pin block , which did not make a difference , so where the wire connects to the bridge last six tricords there is a gap
of about 10mm between the cast frame and the end of the bridge , so i levered the 10mm gap slightly and
inserted a soft rubber inbetween the bridge and cast frame , this has made f 2 and f 2 black key sound a lot
better , there still a bit strong but most pianos went to 2 strings in that area to tone them down a bit , so does this mean that the crown on the soundboard has lost its bow .
After looking at a fair few different pianos to buy im finding that most pianos acoustic that is have problems
of one sort or another , hard to find an even scale , so after a year im still looking will have to be german or
english made clean clear warm sounding . makes me think im better keeping what ive got .
