how about some chili?
on: March 02, 2005, 06:07:08 PM
with all the cold weather, i thought i'd share a very fast recipie:

cook 1/2 lb. ground beef, stir in chili seasoning packet (1/2 is enough), 2 cans bush's vegetarian baked beans, 1 large can crushed tomatoes with added puree (can add the kind with garlic), as many fresh tomatoes as you want (diced) and voila, it's done in about 10 minutes.

it tastes as good as the kind that takes all day.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

Hahaha, I beat you to it!  Chili was a hot topic in months past!  Just do a search for 'chili'.  Better yet, try 'recipe for chili'.  You will get this link:

maybe i should change the subject to 'how about some recipies.'  lately, i really like fast recipies that still taste good.

here's one for people that like microwaves:  one of those brie rounds put in for 2 minutes.  surround with chips and you can dip.  i haven't tried it yet, but it sounded good.

Hmmm... well, if we can exchange any old recipe, here's one that I love:

Asparagus with Avocado and Strawberries

Fresh asparagus (1 bushel)
Fresh strawberries; sliced  (or home-made cranberry sauce (really easy))
Fresh avocado(s); diced
Olive oil (the good stuff)
Fresh squeezed lemon/lime
salt
pepper

1.  While pot of water is waiting to reach boiling, whisk together olive oil and juice from lemon or lime until it appears as "creamy"  (proportions to taste)

2.  Blanch asparagus, drain, and set in serving platter

3.  While asparagus is cooling, slice strawberries and set on top of asparagus (I like to put it in some sort of a row not parallel with asparagus, something visually appealing)

4.  Dice avocados and set right next to sliced strawberries (or cranberries)

5.  Pour/drizzle whisked olive oil mixture on top of the entire dish

6.  Salt and pepper to taste

you are too funny!  this sounds like conversation i used to have with my sister-in-law at thanksgiving.  whatever happened to martha stewart?

i'd freeze the strawberries and put them in a daquiri.  i like asparagus plain (with the lemon and butter, tho).
