Feedback on my upcoming audition programme
on: November 06, 2025, 04:46:27 AM
Hello everyone,

I’m preparing my programme for an upcoming piano audition and would greatly appreciate your feedback. Here’s what I’ve planned so far:

Examination programme of the 1st round, min. 15 minutes of programme

   a) A virtuoso étude
Franz Liszt: Transcendental Étude No.5 in B-flat major, S.139, "Feux follets"

   b) One fugue
Johann Sebastian Bach: Fugue in C-sharp minor from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book I, BWV 849

   c) Viennese Classical period – Excerpt from a theme-and-variation work
Ludwig van Beethoven: Introduction, Theme, Variation 1 - 3 from Variations on an Original Theme in E-flat major, Op.35 ("Eroica Variations")

   d) One freely chosen piece
Sergei Prokofiev: Vivace from Piano Sonata No.2 in D minor, Op.14

Examination programme of the 2nd round (on-site audition), min 30 minutes of programme

        e) Complete work from the Viennese Classical period
Ludwig van Beethoven: Variations on an Original Theme in E-flat major, Op.35 ("Eroica Variations")

   f) One piece from the Romantic era
Franz Liszt: Transcendental Étude No.10 in F minor, S.139

   g) One piece from the 20th/21st century
Maurice Ravel: "Alborada del Gracioso" from Miroirs, M.43

   h) One freely chosen piece
      Frederic Chopin: Variations Brillantes. Op.12

Do you think this programme is balanced in terms of style, difficulty, and impression? Any suggestions for the Classical piece or general improvements would be very welcome.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts!
