The story - 7 year old in piano class, the teacher says its time for him to get a piano with 88 keys, weighted keys, and pedals, none of which his current cheap-ie piano has.  Teacher recommended between these two models.  Linked below.  Anyone have any thoughts as between these two?  I know absolutely nothing about pianos ha.  Or, if these two are bogus, and you'd recommend different models, I'm all ears!  Thanks!!!

If authentic piano feel and expressive sound are your top priorities, Roland RP-701 tends to pull ahead.

I have the roland FP 30x model and the 701 has the same sound engine and feel. Since I am an advanced player and the model I have suits my needs for much of my music, at least for daily practising, you can't go wrong.

Both are solid choices for a beginner. The Roland RP-701 is often praised for its key feel and expressive sound, while the Yamaha YDP-S55 is very reliable and has Yamaha’s classic piano tone. Honestly, your child would likely do well with either—if possible, try them in person and see which one feels better.
