Chopin - Nacturne Op.9 No.1

This is obviously a very emotional piece, especially with he contrasting A and B sections. I can never really asses how well i managed to convey those emotions outwards to an outside listener by myself, so how did I do?

Good job!

As for your question, it's difficult to answer because there is no objective truth as to what emotions you should convey.

For my taste, I think you did the middle section quite well indeed. It feels peacefully flowing in a way that i think is appropriate. Overall good legato in your melody playing.

The outer sections need a bit more work. I think your tempo is a bit too slow and should be closer to the tempo you take in the middle sections. Duo to the slow tempo, and maybe some of your phrasing choices, it sometimes makes the melody feel like it lacks direction in the outer sections, like you are going in slow motion, or are a bit stuck in the mud or treading water, as it were. Try to shape the melody into longer, more unified sentences of music, where you feel the direction of where the music is going all the way from beginning to end of each phrase. Use a slightly faster tempo to help you with this. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to pay more attention to the phrasing... I think i focused so much on the dynamics that the phrasing just fell behind... Emotion-wise i was worried about the middle section the most, so im ghapoy to see i got it well (for your taste at least)
