Can someone help me with my YAG/PANEL Repertoire???
on: March 07, 2005, 01:58:40 AM
I'm in high school and I have to pick five songs for my next year's 30 minute repertoire. I need one song from each of the periods- baroque, classical, romantic, contemporary, and an etude.

This is what I have so far...
Baroque:
Bach- Aria Variations

Classical:
Beethoven- Sonata 6, 1. Allegro

Romantic:
Mozart- Fantasie in C mi K475
Mendelsohnn-Fantasy in F mi Op.28
Liszt- Liebestraume #3

Contemporary:
not sure?

Etude:
Szymanowski Op.4 #3

I'm having trouble picking between the mozart and mendelsohnn...not sure if Mozart is too long but I do like it and not sure of the Liszt...seems over played. And I'm not so sure of the Beethoven Sonata.

Can anyone help me? or maybe suggest some different songs that are about the same difficulty as these? I want a good contrast, and unique/moody songs.

Thanks!

Beethoven Op. 10 No. 2 is really weak, and Mendelssohn's f-sharp fantasy is anything but weak. Do you realize this? Which difficulty are you leaning towards?

What kind of contemporary/modern music would you like to play? Which composers do you like?

hmm yea i did realize it but i'm not quite sure what sonata to play... anything you could recommend that is around 6 min or less?... as far as contemporary... i've played bartok's roumanian dance 8a, I liked that decently. Any suggestions for classical/romantic/contemporary? I can't think of good songs that aren't too long...so is Mendelsohnn a good song ? I'd only play the first movement though.
