life expectancy of the typical pianist
on: March 09, 2005, 11:05:36 PM
i would say we live longest because we are happiest.  expressing ourselves easily  on the piano lets out pent up frustration and joy.  we don't need drugs (our piano is our drug of choice) and short of being sideswiped on a country road (2 blocks from home) we will be the happiest ones in the senior centers, too.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

yeah but don't most die early from crazed diseases? that's my plan, i'm gonna get kidney cancer in 20-30 years time as a result of inhaling too much cadmium and lead paint and too much turps and medium. but yes, at least we'll be happy with our piano:)

Yes, but Tash, if you keep inhaling those products you will die happy and have a great trip along the way!

you are too funny.  yes, you never know what can kill you.  if i die before my time, i'll blame it on my teenage son.  hahaha (actually he de-stresses me at times too, when he's joking around).

We may live to a grand old age but what the point if by the time we reach 75 our fingers have been ground down to about 3mm with practising????? :-\

that's when we can rely on our diminished eyesight (due also to reading too many small notes on the page).

I'll say we will be the first one to be deaf. My mom always say that I used my pedal too much. But she DOES NOT UNDERSTAND that there is no beautiful music without pedal. Well, sometimes I do think using pedal is very loud. Since I live in an apartment, I really have to keep the volume down.
