Need good Banana Bread recipe--I lost mine
on: March 10, 2005, 01:53:58 AM
Hey, I lost my Banana Bread recipe. :(  I'm upset, because it was awesome!  I'm trying out other Banana Bread recipe's that I find in various cookbooks, but none can match the one I lost. In fact. I have some in the oven right now!  It smells divine!  I hope it is good.   Can anybody help?

here's one from an old cookbook i got from my mom:

banana fruit bread

1/3 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. mashed bananas
1/4 c. buttermilk
(or sour milk)
1 1/4 sifted whole wheat or white flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1 c. bran flakes (optional)
3/4 c. dried fruit
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

cream butter and sugar.  add eggs and beat well. mix bananas and milk.  mix dry ingredients, fruit, and nuts together; add alternately with banana mixture to the creamed butter mixture, sugar, and eggs.  pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour (or until done - toothpick in middle)
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

    * 1 cup sugar
    * 1/2 cup shortening
    * 2 eggs
    * 2 cups flour
    * 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    * 1 teaspoon baking soda
    * 3 soft, ripe bananas, mashed

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs, flour, soda, bananas, and chopped nuts. Pour banana bread batter into 1 greased and floured loaf pan; bake at 325° for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. This banana nut bread recipe makes 1 loaf.

Thanks, guys. I will try these.  I found one in a cookbook and tried it.  It didn't turn out very good :(  I will try these.  Thanks.  Anybody else?
