Source material to learn scales
on: March 12, 2005, 02:53:34 PM
I just decided to learn to play the piano. I have the first few books of the Alfred series. Looking at the first few chapters of the first book, I notice that only the c and g chord are mentioned. I would like to purchase a resource to learn and understand scales and fingerings. Any suggestions? Thanks.

One of the few things Hanon is good for is teaching scales. It has major, harmonic minor, and melodic minor, all with good fingering.

You shouldn't do Hanon now. You shouldn't EVER do Hanon, but doing it now just to learn scales is likely to cause injuries.
