Its imcomplete, but I can't think of much more.

Any ideas on what books to read if you want to compose?

Well there's a good deal of workbooks that cover the rudiments of a broad range of composition topics, like the  ''berklee method'' books, and the ''Composers handbook'' etc.
But if you want a more intense read on the very basics  i'd try Fux's ''Study of counterpoint''. That will educate you in all the basic rules of music writing,
although you'll have a harder time applying what you've learnt in this book to writing in comparison to one of the broader books, and you'll require a good level of music theory to comprehend it.

In all, if its your first book , Id recommend one of the broader books, possibly the composers handbook if you can find it ,  Id also highly recommend looking at some of the lists on amazon regarding composition books.

Best wishes, UncleBen.
