University of British Columbia
McGill
The Glenn Gould School
The University of Montreal

These schools have excellent world class faculty.  Great faculty will attract top notch students.  With excellent students, come successful alumni, which eventually lead to money going back to the schools.  This money is generally used for scholarships, maintenance and purchasing pianos, and paying for the expensive (yet worth every penny) teachers.

Thanks Alde... is this a ranking from best to least good?  Meaning U of BC is best, and the last choice is U of Montreal?

For piano: also University of Ottawa.

that is a dangerous statement... (I am willing to elaborate only by "pm")

Anyhow consider this: better to be with a good teacher in a "weak" institution than with a bad teacher in a great institution...  Great pianists are not necessarly great teachers.

Well Marc Durand is probably the most popular.  Apparently Leon Fleisher and John Perry also teach there though.  They're both obviously very good and very well-known.

thanks!  so normally how would a  teacher assigned to a student?  is it based on how well the student play in the audition - the best student hooked up with best teacher?  or based on if you know someone who know that famous teacher to intro you to him?

No order.  With regards to teachers, I always find it is best to contact the teacher that you are interested in and schedule a meeting or piano lesson inorder to get to know the teacher.  Usually if the teacher is interested in you, they will have an influence on your audition.
