Rach On! t-shirt
on: March 29, 2005, 12:47:33 PM
Now I've heard this mentioned a few times in this forum, and I think it would be a great idea for us pianists. Who else supports this idea? Does anyone have any ideas for design that we could submit to a company to start producing these t-shirts? Or would it look best just a "Rach On!" on a plain background? What does everyone think?

I'm sure I've heard it mentioned more than once but after a search I found that it was Mozartian who posted it, so much credit to him for this great idea:

I want a t shirt that says "Rach On!" LOL only problem is that hardly anyone would get the joke and I'd get a *lot* of strange looks. hehehe. :D

my mother once sent a t-shirt that said 'hold me, i'm a fermata"  needless to say, i wore it only once (felt too conspicuous and didn't want just any stranger running up).

however, there must be some better one liners.  how about a list of musical terms.  then, on the back 'if you understand that, you're a musician.'  ok. that's dumb.

if you're like me, occasionally i forget a well known musical term and have to look it up again. those are the ones i need on a t-shirt.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

Remember, you would either have to print it in mirror image so that you can read it when in front of a mirror, or write it upside down, so that you can read it when looking down at your t-shirt. That reminds me: I recently printed a snipped of score from a pdf file. It didn't have any clef symbols, nor any writing on it. It must have been in C as there were no accidentals. I played it upside down (i.e. backwards and inverted!) It looked just as "normal" as the correct way. It also sounded a lot better upside down...

Excusez moi, but that would be "her". :P
Glad you think it's a great idea. :)
I think it'd be cool if the back had some of an original manuscript printed on it, perferrably of something that looks insanely difficult :P, and the front just said "rach on" in the same type as the "got milk" ads.
Whadaya think?
:)
xvimbi- ROTFLOL that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. :D

I'm sorry Mozartian. But anyway, that sounds like a pretty good idea to me. What about from the first "a tempo" to the "accel." in the piano cadenza of Rach's third concerto? Or from the "L'istesso tempo" at the end of the second movement where we get a 21 in a beat! Or the ossia passage after Fig 58 in the third movement? These were some of the things that looked pretty good from his third concerto, anyone else have any other ideas from any of his works?
