Concert Etudes
on: April 02, 2005, 05:36:48 PM
EVERY pianist must have heard of the famoujs Chopin Etudes, and some will have heard of Rachmaninovs Etudes Tableux, and these etudes are often the subjects for discussions on this forum. However, i would like to know what everyone's favourite CONCERT ETUDE is (the one's specifically written for concerts).

Also, if anyone could provide difficulty ratings for each of Liszts Concert Etudes, that would be great.

p.s. Does anyone know where on the web i can get the sheet music for Liszts "Un Sospiro" for free. Thanx!

Uh.... Chopin's Etudes were revolutionary because they were among the first written primarily as pieces of music.

Anyway, check for www.sheetmusicarchive.net for just about any sheet music you need.

Waldesrauschen and Gnomenreigen by Liszt are two excellent pieces, as is Un Sospiro.
Fortune favours the musical.
