Fugues

What is your favorite fuga?

Mine is the F sharp major Fugue from the WTC Bk. 1.
You need more than a piano, two hands and a brain to play music.  You also need hot sauce.

if we're talking WTC book 1.....it's hard to choose, but if I had to pick one it might G major

Beethoven's perfect fugal interlude in sonata 28....op 106 fuga is great but i feel flawed

Sorabji's first fuga from OC

Hindemith's Ludas Tonalis....i don't know, maybe fuga quartra in A minor

I love polyphony.....but prefer freer writing than in a fuga

fugues are cool.  One of my friend's teacher writes fugues, she told me so.  my friend played a little for me and it's sounded so cool.  my absolute favorite Bach fugue is number 16 in g minor in book I.  it's so pretty.  My friend plays it really good and I am so proud of her.

bye

personally though i'm not a big fan of fugues... blows my brain up.

I love the little fuge in gminor for organ
The fuge of the Bach toccata in Gmajor is also nice and is very cool to play.

MAYBE no 3 in C sharp major.

At least that's my favorite of the major keys.

Toward the Flame: Boris Petrushansky’s Journey Through Scriabin’s Universe

Alexander Scriabin died in April 1915, at forty-three, of a fever that took him within a week — leaving his great mystical project unfinished. He left behind a piano language no one had spoken before, one that a century later still questions every interpreter who approaches it. Boris Petrushansky has spent a lifetime preparing his answer. In a new album and an extended conversation with Piano Street, he traces Scriabin’s path from the early Preludes to the final, shattering Op. 74. Read more
