Actually, "to tinkle the ivories" is a fairly old British expression meaning "to play the piano".

'Tinkling' refers to the sound: it has nothing to do with wee.

(I come from Birmingham in the UK, but spend half the year at university in Cambridge)

Somehow I knew that.  Is it the French American School on Cornell?  I live just up the road from there on Skyline.  Did you take in that recital with Louis Lortie a couple of weeks ago?   :o

Sadly no.  I had a few students at one time, then they slowly dispersed - and I got on a big project and haven't had any students since.  Work situation is too dicey right now to take any on!  Thanks, though!  Where are you going?
