Videos of yourselves
on: April 05, 2005, 05:50:12 PM
I am wondering if you guys can show some videos of yourselves playing?
It would be great to hear you playing some of the difficult songs you're playing...

The last thing he plays is the Eb minor Prelude by Scriabin.  It's in 15/8 time. 8)

I was considering learning it, but after hearing that I think I'd have no chance...  Please tell me it's not supposed to be played that fast, because... I lack über-1337 technique :-[

Cheers, I've never heard it before, so wouldn't know how fast it's meant to be, but Koji plays it amazingly anyway!

i'd rather see a pianist plays an entire piece of say, 5-6 minute duration, than one who merely cramming a few bars of these and those chunks. it is a presentation of a complete piece/movement that tells a better story, i think ( a whole recital is ideal, but can be out of scope here). any other way, we get only small bites of samples, which is fine if that is what some of you intent to get-- sampling the steak gravy, sniffing the chicken salt, getting half of a cherry from a mud cake. got the idea?

i personally would like a gourment prepared to me as an audience. probably some of you would agree with me on this matter--those who are more used to this kind of "feeding"!

btw, i would assume there are quite a number of good pianists here who don't have a video to show their playing, or simply can not be bothered putting it up on this board. my two cents. best, tds

Funny thing is that prelude is actually rather easy. The right hand repeats itself a lot. Learning the first part learns you part of the second part just an octave up. Similar to the left hand, just some extra chords and a few somewhat tricky jumps. I was able to learn most of it in less than a week, at speed. It's a great piece if you can pull off correctly, which is the true problem here. Getting all the sound and fire out of it while staying true to the dynamics is the actual difficulty here. Still, it is a good 2 page short piece to learn that won't fail to impress!

I did a recording (not good pretty rushed, and i was still brushing it up for peformance) for a friend of mine a while back. Those excuses out the way eheh, the video not the best, and it is a little faster than what the sound is (although it gets closer and closer together) lol. If anyone knows how to edit video and sound then fix it for me  :-[

Reflets dans Leau from Debussy, however i sorta improvised the ending for fun, hope you enjoy it ;)

It is Divx format so you need to get that codec.

ps: sorry you can hear the television in the backgroud. It is called IRON CHEF lol, from japan, it is a cooking show where two chefs try to beat each other cooking better dishes. I think it was turnips that night ahahha.

Um, sorry to dig up this thread. But I am currently learning a few preludes from op.11, by scriabin. By conincidence no.14 (it isn't very hard, gave away the secret) (of course, playing as fast as koji did is!!!!!) and no.1 (beautiful piece). I was wondering what the first piece koji played is, it is obviosly by scriabin (OMG Best composer ever!) but which piece is it??? i know the next two (no.6, 14) but what is the first piece, i dont think its in op.11

Have i repeated myself enough? lol ;) (too much caffine + typing on computer for too long = loosing it)  :P

Thanks

Fred

Why oh why does everyone think I'm a "man?" LOL It's hilarious.  I'm a teenage girl!

Triton, when did you start playing?  Do you have any more videos?

I'd like to put one up here, but I'm not sure how.  My mom's digital camera can take a 3 min video.  (I'll have to pick up the tempo to finish a piece in 3 min flat!)  Does anyone know how it would get from the camera to here IN LAYMANS TERMS!

I've only been playing for a year and 6.5 months.  Not long, but it's coming quickly ;)  I'm done school and my parents are supporting me until I get a music degree, so all's I do is play and study theory and stuff.

BTW, anyone gonna help me out with getting a video up here?

Also, Triton, don't worry about the "man" thing.  I think it's hilarious ;D

Here are some videos of my father playing the piano when he last visited me. He doesn't play classical music like me more jazz/60's70's style piano. Hope you enjoy these videos.

very skillfully delivered, good slow rythm the sort that makes excellent background music.

That Fantasy Impromptu made me sick. Maybe it was a piano, it sounded like a toy. But it was rushed, and it sounded like you missed notes. Not much expression and dynamics seemed like were in the piece.
