Piano Street Magazine:
Wagner’s Universe in a Pianist’s Hands

One of the most thrilling performances offered at Cremona Musica this year was the Wagner by Liszt recital given by Filippo Tenisci – Italian pianist, born 1998 and celebrated for his refined interpretations and expressive mastery of the Romantic repertoire. After his recital we got the chance talking to Tenici about his Wagner/Liszt project. Read more

Liszt b minor

As someone who has played the piano version to a private (drunk) audience, and as someone who has played the 'Ad Nos' to a discerning Sunday congregation, i found this, which despite initial misgivings, I found amazing and so innovative. captures everything Liszt intended.

I'm starting to explore otherworks

Nicholas kynaston was a King's organ scholar, went on to do lots of more managerial work.

piano versions will sound feeble from now on.

My old director of music, Graham Smallbone, told me, to be a good organist you have to be a good pianist first.

Liszt was a good pianist, but he was a really great organist.

Only had time to listen to the Liszt B minor right now, had heard Mephisto before. I like Mephisto but for me the sonata is a piano piece through and through (likewise to an organ version of Gaspard I once heard).

I just looked up the Gaspard again and I don't know anything about organ playing but his footwork in Scarbo is mental. Is this common for organists?

Edit: apparently so!

No, it is not normal.

i didn;t like the opening bars of the organ b minor at all, but later on it got interesting. Maybe just a rethinking which could lead to changes in piano performance?

The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more
