Sound proofing
on: April 08, 2005, 12:29:12 PM
Has anyone sound proofed their music/bedroom room?  I practice with headphones (electric grand piano - well its got a grand action) but the knocking from the keys can be annoyingly heard downstairs.  I want to eliminate this and be able to play any time of day.  Some details: 3 bed semi-detached house, currently use 3rd bedroom for music room with laminate flooring, but thinking of moving into 2nd bedroom (has carpet).  Can you offer a way to achieve the "play any time and even without headphones" solution given the details above?

Thanks

Sure can!! Lay a carpet and line the walls with eggboxes. Then seal all the gaps around the door.

This is what my old schoolfriend Kavi did. He played the drums  :D

Ive tried putting carpet under the piano and this doesnt make any difference.  Not too keen on having egg boxes on the walls!
