My performance of Liszt Ballade #2
on: June 18, 2026, 04:38:03 PM
Thank you to all who listen, I would love to hear any constructive criticism, reactions, or any feelings you have about my performance.

Sorry for the bad quality recording, this was an impromptu performance and was recorded on my phone.

It was indeed difficult to listen! but promising.

I think it lacked phrasing and continuity a bit. For example around 5:50 there was a lot of hesitancy and it didn't flow for me.

Dynamics impossible to tell with phone recording.

Thanks so much for saying that, I've had trouble with phrasing lots of the lyrical sections throughout this piece because I feel that if I make them overly emotional it will detract from the longer narrative. That being said, what you heard is right to my ear as well, I appreciate that you said it has promise.

I hope I was making myself clear. From about 5:20 to 6:00, the beat is completely lost.

Can I suggest you play that passage with a metronome or something? Play it first with zero rubato, when you can do that, then think about rubato and phrasing. But never lose the beat.

I hadn't understood that from your first message but after listening back to it you are right, I absolutely will work on that section with the metronome, thank you for your insights!
