The Chopin Competition. Look at Yundi Li! Of course there are many other winners who are still unknown, but fact is you have to keep winning!

definitely chopin competition in poland!  i don't dream about huge fame and glory, but i'd like to have concerts and the audience who will enjoy listening me.
Critics! If one would be a critic, one should begin with self-criticism !

I can't even engage in this fantasy.  It's too "big" - at this point I'd take even the most puny, insignificant competition that would take somebody my age.
So much music, so little time........

I want to win first place in m1469's piano competition  :)

It would propel me in my career by giving me the confidence to play my next concert well, and recognize the rewards of my work.  And plan another concert for soon after.

It would also propel my teaching career with confidence that I have something to teach and some way to teach it.

there's an idea. create a competition in your name and the only one eligible to perform is yourself.
