Well, he's not the most popular person in the world.  And the people really loved Diana, and are still probably pissed at him for divorcing her.

I think it's a good thing Charles and Camilla got married - after being in love for over 30 years, they deserve to be together.

Plus I don't understand why everyone blames Charles for the breakup of his marriage to Diana.  Surely when a couple get divorced, there are two people involved.  Definitely Camilla shouldn't be blamed - outside parties are just an excuse.  Plus Charles was not the only person being unfaithful.  Diana had her share of extra-marital affairs.  But the marriage breakup wasn't her fault.  That's not sensible.

Er... She is in her late 50s... In her early 20s she was quite a catch. :D

Well, I really suspect that the marriage to Di had more to do with genetics than anything else - I am guessing that she came from an "appropriate" bloodline and Camilla didn't.  He probably never loved her really, but needed to keep that blue blood line thing going.  Basically I think it would suck to be either royalty or "old" money - 'cause you can't just do what you want - you have to consider all the "family" stuff because it's important for them.  Getting engaged is almost more like interviewing for a job.  It's more like some sort of weird freak show thing these days the way the press deals with it.  bleah.

Just to be pedantic for a moment, I don't think Charles and Diana were divorced, just separated.

As for the matter of having the wedding immediately after the Pope's funeral, I think that was just an unfortunate coincidence. The wedding had been arranged for rather longer than the funeral, but I don't suppose it is fair to blame the Pope. As it happens, the wedding was postponed for a day. Just imagine the problems any normal person would have in postponing a wedding for a day. All those things to re-organise: church, vicar, organist, reception, flowers, suit hire, hair dressing, catering, guests, accommodation, musicians / cheesy 70's disco, transport.....

Anyway, I'm not an apologist for our royals. But they do bring the tourists to London, which is a good thing because that keeps them away from me. ;D

Why should the Royals put off their wedding for the catholic church.  England has long been rid of catholicism in the Royal house and Im thankful we aren't a catholic country after all the troubles and oppression Ive seen my catholic friends got though because of their religion and brainwashing at the catholic schools in the UK.  The world does not revolve around the catholic church or any other religion for that matter (no religion is faultless)

Oh, good grief. Just because you don't personally agree with catholicism (I don't either, btw), that doesn't mean that they shouldn't respect the pope's death! He was a good man, and a very respected public figure, seeing as how he was the leader of the largest church in the world.

Perhaps I was a little strong, but it narks me when certain people do think the world revolves around their religion.

Just leave you with a few thoughts... Would a good man show little pity for people who die of AIDS because they didn't do as he believes?  Would a good man cover up the problems of abuse in the church for so long because its daming to his religion?

I think many people are still pissed at him for being part of the family that had her killed!

I think it's a good thing Charles and Camilla got married - after being in love for over 30 years, they deserve to be together.

Also, why not just marry her in the first place?!

Politics should not be a basis for marriage.  The whole fiasco was immoral and a disaster waiting to happen!  I wish the Prince a happy time in hell when he eventually gets there.

Here, here!  I'm not going into this argument, as it's already pretty much exhausted possibilities on other threads, but this can't be denied - is this really the behaviour of a compassionate man?

At the time they first met she was no more a virgin, so she was never a serious candidate for marriage with Charles. Lady Di, on the other hand had a pre-nuptial examination to ensure that the seal was still intact. ::)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Is that really true?  I have to say i find it hard to believe a woman like Di - beautiful and from what i've heard not of the highest moral standing - could stay a virgin for that long.  On the other hand if you say so i'll take your word for it.  I also didn't know that was even required for a royal wedding these days.  It always annoyed that everyone loved her so much.  I mean, yes she was beatiful and could play the press amazingly well but what did she ever really do?  She donated her old wardrobe that would gone to moths if not to the poor, she visited a few sick kids.  According to a friend of my uncles who used to go out with her (i know its a bit my friend's, friend's, mother's, sister-in-law)  She had a bit of a coke problem for a while and could be a bit of a pregnant dog.  Of course this is all hearsay so i don't know, i just never like her that much.  It is nice that Charles got married at last though, i would have thought the church would have been happy.  They'd been living "in sin" for the past 30 years you'd think it'd be good to get the hitched up properly.  But hey that England for you, you got to love it.

You read too much from the media!  Perhaps the church/royal family would like to give that impresssion.
