Figured Bass and Roman Numeral

After much reading, still a bit confused on those topics.

Please help.

oh my god don't get me started on these things they're an absolute nightmare. what do you want to know? basically figured bass you get the bass line and have to figure out what chords go with that based on the bass note and hints they give you eg. the 6 under the note refers to the chord being in 1st inversion, etc.
roman numerals, pretty much the same except they tell you exactly which chord to play instead of giving a bass note.
both are a b*tch to play in my opinion cos i suck at it, however have only been doing it for a month so what can you expect.
if you want me to explain it more then be a little more specific!
