Liszt Competition LIVE webcam
on: April 10, 2005, 11:05:37 AM
Hey guys,
Here's a link to a webcam showing the 7th Liszt Piano Competition in the Netherlands...LIVE. It's very cool.
When you're on the web page click the internet speed option in the pink box.
Next performance is at 14.00 CEST. You'll have to work out your timings from that.

Enjoy  :)

Really not impressed with this guy at the moment!  He does that infuriating Horowitzian note-displacement far too often.  Also his quiet tones arent nearly warm enough because he uses the soft pedal too often.  Grrr...pianists today!  >:(

If I recall correctly, Rufus Choi (USA) is a member of PF.  He made it to the second round.

Yeah, you are correct.  I was a little excited when I heard his name.  That's amazing.

Why is nothing going on everytime I check it? When's the next time I'll actually be able to watch something?

It looks like there is a "Meet the Jury" Symposium tomorrow, then the finals on April 13.

It bothered me when the other day I was watching and there was another camera on the left side. It didn't block the view of the piano, but was distracting.

ughh~ well at least it was pretty cool to see the hall and then to see it again after coming back to NYC on the internet.  I was so not happy about the chinese and the dutch making it into the finals.

hi what you mean by note-displacement... (I think it means the same as what i think it is -0 but just to clarify)  and i like to ask if this is 'acceptable practise' - seems like i have only heard Horowitz and Cherkassky done it.  any other pianists today do it too?

I wasn't so sure about them, either.  Still, great job; you were a thrill to watch.
