Does it sound right yet?...
on: April 10, 2005, 07:35:46 PM
Does anyone else find practicing for sound really tiresome? God, I hate it! Give me a nice awkward passage to work out anyday! I much prefer the rewards of practicing notes to sound. I rarely have to do it because generally I am pretty happy with the sound I make, but when I do...tin hats all around! So frustrating!!!

No, I cannot say I do. Sound to me is pretty nearly everything and I find looking for beautiful sounds a constant and thrilling adventure. Often these days I find I reach a mildly vexing state wherein I know something is missing but cannot put my finger on exactly what it is. For me this situation is best put aside and turned over to the unconscious. In anything from a couple of hours to several weeks I usually get a "Eureka !" moment when I least expect it. Despite trying hard I have never been able to successfully delegate these discoveries to a conscious process.
