Seeking Pianists
on: May 10, 2003, 05:31:10 AM
;D
Hi, Music Lovers. I'm Joe Townley, a writer and classical pianist. I'm in the process of setting up a website that will be devoted to showcasing talented young pianists by the use of streaming video. I'm located in Los Angeles, CA USA and I want this website to be a means of introducing you and your playing to the entire world. There is no fee involved. Visit my website to see me perform Chopin and Rachmaninoff. This will give you a better idea of how your video will look on the web. For more information please e-mail me. Regards, Joe Townley

8) Intriguing, Tempest, but your website is not working properly. I get a Yahoo message that your website is temporarily unavilable, yet some parts of it appear. Your photo gallery shows temporarily unavilable. What's your website all about?

;) Thank you, Chopinetta. Here I am at 1:30 in the morning sitting in front of my computer cracking my knuckles (ooooohhh!!!) sipping on wine and playing on a computer keyboard when I should be playing on a piano keyboard and waking up all the neighbors! Glad to hear your "Raindrop" went well in recital. And thank you for your efforts to promote my website. If only I could have flown to Cebu to hear you! Well, it's only 18 hours away by plane! Maybe next week. I mean it's not like you're on the other side of the world or anything.  ;D

Can you give me any more information about video quality, length, repertoire or any of that? This is something that sounds really great, but I need some more details before I can figure out if it will work. Thanks!

Love,

Sarah

;) Sarah, use the video quality on my website as a guide. These are neither great nor poor. They were shot w/ a Sony TRV-330 Digital Camcorder using a tripod for stability. A regular camcorder w/ adequate lighting supported on a tripod should give sufficient results. Camcorders are now selling for as little as 200 bucks, so its a good investment, especially if you're planning to send videos to universities as part of the application process. And , if nothing else, you can use a camcorder to shoot video of the house pet doing funny stuff, send them in to the Real Video Television show and possibly win 10 grand first prize! Stranger things have happened!  ;D  As to length, 5 minutes max. is a good length to shoot for. Surprisingly, Sarah, you are the first person so far to express an interest so it might be just you and me, kid, unless other opt in. BTW, what piece might you be interested in videotaping?
