creation performance at moravian college

for anyone who's interested:

there is a performance this weekend of haydn's 'creation' at moravian college in bethlehem, pa.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

yes, it's too bad that different concerts, competitions (i don't like them for the competition but the playing), and all, couldn't be a click away.  i suppose some are, but most are not.

they are probably singing in German since it is at Moravian college.  i find the music quite hilarious in spots (kind of like carnival of the animals) and haydn quite a creative mind.  i used to think he was nice but 'boring.'  i've since decided he's quite the genius, too, though he didn't hold music in his head like mozart and took about 2 years to complete this piece (laboring quite extensively over it with many sketches).

2 years may not be that bad. It depends on how many other pieces he composed during that same time. I mean if he worked on that piece for like 5 hrs a day and it still took 2 years then that would be bad.

thanks!  you are helping me think linearly.  you see, i just complained under the jealousy thread (slightly jealous of people who can think linearly) that i not only take one fact and elaborate on it, but fail to question the fact with more facts.  who would have thought.  ok. maybe i need a philosophy class (or would that compound the problem?)

maybe if we wore a hat when we were younger and it had a red and blue siren (like a police car) that went off every time we were expounding an unproven 'fact' we would learn to question the facts more.  i don't like statistics that much, but i am realizing that you have to prove what you say in grad school (unlike what you tell your children - simplified version and very misleading).  my three year old happens to be asking very pointed questions lately.  am wondering if she will automatically be more 'linear.'
