I have been studying Chang -which is helpful and inspiring. But this confused me too - some of these concepts ideally need a video. It seems to be about wrist rotation on several planes to get the finger up and over to where you want it.

Can anyone clarify further?

You take a run up to the piano then literally cartwheel off the keys. Produces a great legato sound.  ;D

The problem is you just read it. ::)

Clearly, you weren't interested in actually doing it.  If you did, there should be no doubt what is being described.

Best of luck.

it works just try it as directed in the book.
If not, for vertical cartweels, picture your fingers as well...the spokes of the lower half of a bicycle wheel.
An imaginary bicycle weel with an invisible tire.
Now roll!
