Old Wurlitzer Grand
on: March 19, 2002, 05:01:39 AM
Hello!  I just purchased a used Wurlitzer Grand.  The salesman said it was 50 or 60 years old.  For being this old, it is in exquisite condition!  It's a cherry finish, with the double back legs.  Does anyone know if there is a way I can find out the exact year it was built?  Thanks.  8)

Congratulations to your new piano!  :)
I didn't know Wurlitzer were making acoustic pianos. The name only reminds me of those legendary electric pianos from the 60's or so.
The acoustic ones are maybe more common in America than here in Europe. Do you have lots of them over there?

If you would like to know when your piano was built, check the serial number and then call the Wurlitzer Company:
(513) 576-4601
(800) 876-2976

Alternatively, have a look here:

I wonder how pianodeanne is going now with his old piano.  Hay pianodeanne, if you ever come by here again please tell us all how your piano is going after all these months.

Hey everyone!

I'm still alive; my hubby and I picked up a karaoke gig and my daughter's playing basketball now, so we're very, very busy!

Yes, I am still playing my old Wurlitzer; as a matter of fact, I went to the Baldwin website and found out that it was built in 1930!  We built a new home almost two years ago, and it sits in the center of our Music Room (dining room).  I have been practicing quite alot lately, as I will be playing for the local high school play, Oklahoma!  So I'm very excited about that.

Thanks for asking.  Will try to keep in better touch!
