note connection
on: April 17, 2005, 08:32:18 PM
When a note on top of another note is connected, you play them right? Well, I listened to a midi today and looked at the sheet music. There were parts when notes were on top of the another (same beat of course), but were not connected. The music plays them simultaenously however.. Does this mean I was suppose to plays like this for all songs? Or was the midi trying to give a sense of what it sound like?

Don't ever look at midi sheet music for the purpose of learning. They are modified for the purpose of making notes sound better or something. Also, they have no "expression" terms (piano, forte, dolce,.......etc.)

Is your meaning of " connected " is that there is a little line between the two? Hahaha I just understood what you meant. Yeah, if it is over the other note, same if they are not "connected" you play them simultaenously. The reason why they are not "connected" is because they are from two different voices in the same hand. But you play them simultaenously.
