No, it's not an extra ticket, but there's another concert I'd rather go to on the same day (Julia Fischer playing Bartok's second concerto).... and I'm not really a big fan of Pollini anyway. I don't particularly like his programme either.
I do not like Pollini because his Chopin sounds exactly like a midi file. I do not like Pollini because his Beethoven is utterly without expression. I do not like Pollini because his technique (which was his only claim to fame) is now careless. I do not like Pollini because he does not use any creativity - no dynamic variation save for what is written, and no rubato. I do not like Pollini because, in a nutshell, he is the dryest pianist I have ever listened to.That's how I don't like Pollini. (And I say this from seeing him live last year, and from listening to a number of his recordings, both recent and from his younger years)
Pollini's Beethoven sounds expressionless?!?!??! what the
Ouch. I'm assuming you can play as well as Pollini to be able to critisize him in such a fashion?
