I was watching MTV today and thinking how neat it would be if the classical music world made an effort to appeal to a wider audience by making music videos of classical music. These would hopefully provide a more tasteful visual experience for the viewer than most pop-music videos do. Since classical music is vastly more complex than pop, it seems to me that classical music videos (much like Fantasia perhaps) could be done in very creative ways.

The only problem is, would such a thing sell? Most people seem only to want to see writhing bodies of starved 20 year old women these days, and the agressive gesturing of rich people who for some odd reason still behave like low life criminals.

Know what'd be cool?  Classical music videos in the tradition of rock and roll.  Example:  Awesome lighting, cool backdrops, smoke and mirrors, and camera angles from all over.  Maybe he even douses the piano in gasoline and lights it on fire in the end.  Or plays the piano with his nose (I was going to say teeth, but that's a little impractical).  Yea I know it might be selling out but it'd boost sales.  I wonder who'd be on board to do something like this?  (But if it's done right .... it could still be very cool)
