I googled sharpie eraser and found this link.  You might want to make sure that the piano keys won't be further damaged by the substance by testing it out in a less conspicuous area.

Q: Help the grand kids got Sharpie on my vinyl flooring...help!! I am a renter and don't want to buy new floors.

A: Hairspray sometimes works - or maybe the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (if its vinyl)

A: Try toothpaste, I just saw this on the Today show.

A: I haven't tried this but have had GREAT success with lots of other marks on the floor. It is a new product called Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It literally erases marks. It sells for about $2 here. You can use it many times though..good luck!

A: Try denatured alcohol. My (then) 2 year old son got Sharpie all over his room during what was supposed to be his nap time. It was on the carpet, walls, furniture, window, curtains, bedding and of course him. It did a good job on most of the things. (Don't use it on skin!)

dont think it will do damage cause toothpaste + tooth = healthy tooth
and keys = ivory
ivory= elephant tooth
so keys= healthy tooth lol

Pytis- you probably shouldn't tell too many people about this little incident. It might make you come of as well, an idiot.

Use dry erase marker.  Write over the permanent marker spot.  Then wipe it off.  You may have to repeat a couple of times and it won't remove all of the marking (but close).  But becareful because the ink in the dry erase marker may stain but it's still better than the alternative ink all over the keyboard.

I don't know for sure what the ingredient in the dry erase marker is but I learned the technique from someone who said it was arsenic.

Be careful - most piano keys aren't ivory, and can easily be damaged by chemicals (i.e., acetone).
