Dream Program
on: April 25, 2005, 03:58:15 AM
I'm pretty sure this topic has been done in the past, but...

What program would you sell your soul to perform?

My graduation recital program for next year is going to be (in all likelihood):
Brahms- Piano Pieces Op. 119
Rachmaninoff- 4 Preludes Op. 32 (No. 10-13)
-Intermission-
Schubert- Piano Sonata No. 21 in B-flat Major, D.960

I might be over-indulging myself...

Xenakis Herma
Boulez Sonata No. 3
Nancarrow Sonatine 1941

as part of a concert.  oooooh and the michael nymen piano concerto.

Hmmm.... tough.  However, assuming unlimited stamina, technique, and a perfect audience who loves these works as much as I:

All five late Beethoven sonatas in one program.
Always play as though a master listened.

6 Paganini Etudes - Liszt
Intermission
4 Ballade - Chopin
Don juan - Mozart - Liszt (perhaps)

encore La Campanella Liszt  - Busoni (or else if i can develop myself in time i would rock with Hamelin version)

NICE!!

but i think it might be easier to do the ballads, then the lizst- that way both parts are more equal in length.

and can i see the sheets to the hamelin or busoni campanella?  i've never even heard them sadly *whimper whimper*

In no particular order -

Beethoven - Opus 111

Godowsky - Sonata

Ravel - Gaspard de la Nuit

Scriabin - Sonata #5

Sorabji - Fantasie Espagnole

Rachmaninoff - 3rd Piano Concerto

Busoni - Piano Concerto

Mozart - Anything to balance out the emotionally draining atmosphere of the other pieces

Undoubtedly, it would be one of the longest (and most tiring) performances in history, but it would be an amazing experience, don't you think?

This is my "imaginary recital" program I have been working on for a while now. (In two months I can start practicing 4 hours a day again!!!!)

Chopin: Nocturne in bb minor, Op.9/1
Bach: Toccata in d minor BWV???
Gershwin: Preludes (or Barber: select Excurions)
__Intermission__
Original Work
Mozart: K333
Some outrageous aggressive contemporary piece. Ideas anyone?
