These five pieces i think are probably the most difficult by him, and i was wondering if anyone would rank them in difficulty and how much you like them ^^

Debussy L'Isle Joyeuse
Debussy "Poissons d'Or" from Image Suite No. 2
Debussy Etude No. 11 "Pour les Arpeges Composes"
Debussy Preludes Book 1 No. 7 "Ce qu'a vou le Vent d'Ouest"
Debussy Preludes Book 2 No. 12 "Feux d'Artifice"

also, has ANYONE heard the debussy ballad?  that piece is soooo pretty!

I love Poissons d'or from Images and i would love to learn it some day, it is very tricky though.

Poissons d'or, along with the other two pieces from images book 2, is my favourite work by Debussy.  Pour les Arpeges Composes is probably one of the best of the etudes, which I never have been too fond of......Ce qu'a vou le Vent d'Ouest is sometimes brilliant, but overall is just o-k...Feux d'Artifice I DESPISE, Debussy is so much better when he writes simpler than this.

I've only played three of these pieces (havent got round to the etude or feux d'artifice yet). I played "Ce qu'a vu le vent d'ouest" recently for an exam- it's one of my favourite debussy pieces.

I think difficulty is subjective- also, each different piece has different technical requirements. For example, personally, i would substitute "Poissons d'Or" for "Reflets dans l'eau", as i find all of the second set of Images fairly straightforward- but that's just my opinion.

L'Isle Joyeuse is in my opinion the most difficult- but there again i haven't played all five.
