Stage Names
on: April 26, 2005, 11:06:58 AM
I saw a post by Poccorina who says its a stage name.  Does anyone else perform in public under a Stage name?  Is it because your name isn't good in your opinion.  Im really interested in this because I once posted a topic about whether your name is part of the reason you make or break it in the performing world as some pianists have really good memorable names.

Yes, Pocorina is my stage name (check your spelling - LOL)

In fact, my full stage name is "Pocorina Toccata". Quite memorable wouldn't you say, and I agree that some names just don't have that certain "je ne sais quo" needed to go far.

My real name is Remy Hanako-Skipper, which I think you will agree is a very stupid name! Hanako comes from my mother who is Japanese, and Skipper from my father.

So all in all I would say - have a stage name if your own is sh*t.

I don't recall saying my uncle is Russian... did I?

I am in Scotland because the air is supposed to be very good for one's lungs. And it's just one of the best clinics.

Okay; some history for you. Yes, my mother is Japanese, but moved to England when she was a child. My father is just English, and married her. I was, also, born in England. So there you have it.

hey pocorina - hope you weren't offended by my question its just I saw your other post about being unwell when you met a russian uncle.  I just thought it was an unusual combination.  :)
