UK Elections..
on: April 27, 2005, 04:16:20 PM
Does anyone think that BNP are growing in popularity?  I keep hearing their election campaign, and whether you like them or not they seem to be highlighting alot of points Ive heard alot of people feel strongly about.

To be honest with you i don't know much about politics at the moment but didn't their leader get arrested. I would have thought that the documentary in which a journalist went 'undercover' being a BNP member would have damaged their reputation even more.
I am not sure though, they just appear like an extreame racist party to me. Their popularity would only really increase if a current government made people switch to extreame views through neglecting immigration policies or something.

One of the things that is great about Britain: even shitty parties like the BNP have equal resources when it comes to elections. They are allowed to produce party election broadcasts, even if they are racist. And why shouldn't all the parties have an equal chance to campaign? If this were not the case, it would not be a true democracy.

The reason they are becoming slightly more popular is because people are getting fed up of Tony Blair not grabbing the preverbial horse by the bit when it comes to immigration. But they still have only a single seat in parliament!

I must admit Im very concerned with the way our country is going with freedom of speech.  We can no longer air our cultural differences for fear of being racist or whats this new one - can't say anything against a religion or something (religious hatred) what does that mean?!

My partner works in a bank and witnesses the amount of people who have come over here and then claim benefits and I heard someone say on the TV that they don't allow then to.  The US and Australia have had strict rules on immigration for years.  Why haven't we?  We are a miniscule country in comparison to most other countries.  It does concern me that people born in Britain can be treated worse than refugees.

I have no idea who to vote for this year!  I can't stand Blair - he's not a team player.  He's an arrogant dictatorial idiot who never listens to anyone.

I think this is giving far too much importance to this guy. Satan? Nah. More like Pinocchio. ;)

So Janice, what is it with you and lying politicians (oops, I think I repeated myself here)? ;)

Doesn't the Bible mention something against lying? ???

I don't know if he is hot, but I am sure he is going to spend eternity in very hot place. ;D

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Quote of the week:

"When Tony Blair said he never lied, he was not telling the truth" ;D

(Heard it on TV while I was in the other room, so when I got to the TV I could not see who said it, but I think it was Charles Kennedy).

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Unfortunately we seem to have reached the stage where most people will be voting against rather than for. This is very much to Labour's advantage, because the people who don't care who gets in as long as it isn't the Tories will all vote Labour, whereas the (much larger group of) people who don't care who gets in as long as it isn't Labour will vote Tory or Lib Dem effectively at random.

Well, I think that we should have the AV (alternative vote), instead of the current First Past The Post.

However, considering the situation in Italy...
