Agraffes for Upright pianos
on: May 03, 2005, 03:16:44 AM
Dear All:

A question, Yamaha U5 and kawai k80 both use the Agraffes structure which is usually used in grand pianos.

Is that necessary for the upright? What is the adwantage to use this kind of structure?

Thanks!

Generally for better quality pianos the manufacture will use agraffes, Bechstein was always using them in their uprights from 19th century.  Its done by designers to add better tone to the piano.

Thanks!
Does Agraffes affect the touch of the piano?
Recently, I tried Yamaha U3 and U5.
U5 use Agraffes, but U3 not.
I find they two have different touch!
Why!

Could someone please explain to me what agraffes are? What are they designed to do? Thanks.

Thanks Brian. So I assume these studs are more effective doing this than the sets of pins that are used otherwise?
