Happy Birthday !
on: May 03, 2005, 06:19:54 PM
Hi All,

Apart from "Variations on Happy Birthday" by Ludwig, and "Prelude on Happy Birthday" by Rochberg, does anyone know if there are any other pieces based on this tune?

Regards,

Gregory

I watched a concert on TV, where a string orchestra played excerpts from Heidrich's Happy Birthday Variations, they included the theme, a variation in the style of Hadyn, in the style of Beethoven, "tango", and "csardas".

Günther von Noe, "Happy Birthday to you - Heitere variationen fur Klavier" ("Amusing variations)" (Doblinger)

It's in German, and you'll have to get it from somewhere in Europe, because it is not available in the US (last time I looked). They also ship to anywhere, with the attached premium, I guess. The catalog number is 01641 (as per their latest catalog). The book has variations on the tune in all styles.
