Black keys
on: May 05, 2005, 08:32:46 PM
Hi, I've got a problem with my Yamaha digital piano:
When I press some of the black keys they don't jump back.
It's impossible for me to play forte or fortissimo on this keys, sometimes when I press such a key, it even doesn't make sound.
I think it's because this piano is about 10 - 15 years old.
Do you think it is better to buy an upright piano, although I have a very small budget?

digital pianos from 10 years ago downright suck. You can get a much nicer one today with more features probably for 1/2 the price. Dont bother fixing the digital-it will be expensive and when it is fixed, you still have a crappy digital, bound to break down again. I know this key problem you are experiencing because I have had to deal with it on my old, OLD digital and because of my experience I bought a new one 4 years ago and havent had any problems since. Digitals are really fancy today and not that expensive. I suggest you buy a new one.
If you are truly serious about learning music and progressing your knowledge, you may want to think about getting an upright, but if you just want to have fun with it, you may be satisfied with a digital. However, keep in mind you will never be playing Rachmaninoff concertos on any digital..
best of luck,
