Help me to my next step.
on: May 22, 2003, 01:20:17 AM
I have been playing piano for 9 years, and have intensions of making a carreer out of it. Ultimately, I want to become a concert pianist. It is my dream. I don't know what to do from here to help achieve this dream. Where can I audition? Who can I perform for? Where can I try out for something? The following link is a resume of me. It is on the website for the winners concert, and they needed information on me..so this is what came out.

The picture was taken at Carnegie Hall in NYC a year ago. I am also performing there again this Sunday Night. Any help that anyone has would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you again.
Kyle

First of all: I'm sorry for not being able to give you specific advice, but I might be able to give you some ideas of which steps to take next.
What's very important is to continue playing at competitions - success in those is the only way to become a concert pianist that can make a living out of his job;
You should also get informations about the next rehearsals of conservatories and music departments which take place in big cities all over the US and are, unfortunately, likely to be over already - they usually happen to be during springtime. You can best do this by contacting the schools directly (some of them are present in the internet, so you shouldn't have problems finding their sites). When choosing an institution for your studies, be careful and always get information about the professors, since you, later on, will partwise be judged by who was your teacher.
Hm, and the next step would probably be a year or two abroad, maybe on an elite conservatory (like the ones in Salzburg, Vienna, Paris, Madrid, London or St. Petersburg) to introduce you to a different style of playing..
But, since actions are meant to take place chronologically: Get your highschool diploma and a lot of information first, and then really consider where you're heading..
Hope you get to live your dream, Kyle - good luck to you.
Regards,
