You may just have a slow connection....also nothing will happen when you click "post" immediately, you just have to let it sit for a while. hope that helps

Given your situation you could try a couple of things:

reduce the size of the audio file by choosing a lower-quality bitrate (like 64 or even 32 kbps...piano will still sound half dcent)  or a different file format like AAC. Most people who use this site should be able to read AAC as well as Mp3.

on the other hand you could attempt to upload it late at night and leave your computer on all night.  The risk you run there is that your computer will sign off and not finish the upload.

here's an idea---find a friend with AIM (you can resume file transfers) who has a fast connection. send the file to them, and then your friend can upload it for you (and make clear its by you, not your friend)

It should take about 30 minutes to upload a 5 Mb file if you have a good modem connection so it is definately possible for you to upload your recording.

You could try the following:

Take a cut of your recording (20 sec or so) or any other file (pdf, gif or jpg) you have that is not very big - a few hundred kB would be  good. Upload it as a test here in this thread to see if it works and how long time it takes. Then you can easily calculate how long it will take to upload your whole recording.

As Derek points out nothing seems to happen when you click the "post" button, just be patient and wait. You can follow the upload if you open up the status window (properties?) for the modem connection. There you can usually see how many bytes that has been uploaded.

Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
