Assuming you have a PC and a  16 bit sound card or better:

I bought
a 10 dollar wal-mart microphone
50 feet of cable (piano is downstairs in the living room)

and......obtained......::cough::.........Cool Edit

spent total of like 30 bucks.....

sure those recordings aren't professional, but they serve the purpose of displaying my work and receiving feedback for it for the purpose of becoming a better musician.

For my own purposes and to share, I am to be using a pc microphone or the mic to a headset, and a software called Audacity which is free.

I just recorded for the first time, and I just downloaded Audacity (https://audacity.sourceforge.net/) and LAME.mp3 encoder and used the microphone on my laptop. Of course, if you don't have a laptop, you may have to buy a microphone...

I have the same problem to record. I love to get feedback from you guys, but I only have small digital dictator recordor run by AAA battery. Sometimes it is ok to record lecture, piano lesson , but this time, I recorded  some Chopin music such as crappy sound. I mean I can hear the piano, but the sound is not concentrated enough, bashing sound when I play the chords or using pedal .  It is embarrassing to upload.

I can get recorded from my Church, but the recorder runs on cassette, how to transform cassette into mp3 to upload to the forum. It would be better if I can do that because I can play on grand piano with proper microphone.

Can I purchase better digital dictator with USB cable? I have tried different one, but more less the same? Any more suggestion...... Thanks

I got myself one of these, haven´t regretted it. They´re quite expensive though but the inbuilt mic is really good.
